Our Story

Poca is a special needs 4-year-old foster child from the Seattle area who was recently torn away from the only place she's ever called home. She was taken from loving, stable foster parents who have raised her since infancy. Why? Washington state's child welfare system is punishing the foster parents for speaking up against the system. Unfortunately, Poca is the true victim. She's now in a new foster home with people she barely knows. Her story has outraged people across the nation. Thank you for visiting this site to help fight for Poca.

Tough Week

Thanks to all who came out for the rally and the court hearing to support us. We appreciate the love because without it we would not have been able to make it through the week. We had our court hearing and it was horrible. Again we were attacked and accused of everything the parent's attorneys could think of. They said we were horrible liars, awful parents, and Dick was even accused of sexual misconduct at work! It was amazing that they could say all of this without a piece of paper to support them and that we have already been accused of this and found (by a court of law) that it was all UNTRUE. It is absolutely exhausting trying to stand strong against the attacks. We had no idea the deceit and horrible things that would happen when we made the decision to stand up against DSHS and fight for our little girl. We will continue to fight though because we love her and want her back home where she belongs! Pray for our family that we will have the strength to continue and for Poca. We saw her for a visit yesterday. She displayed for the first time, anger at us for leaving her. She was so excited to see us but was obviously troubled. We celebrated her 4th birthday during the visit and she sobbed when it was time to go. Tomorrow will be harder since it is her actual birthday and the first one we will spend away from her.

  2. If the State is trying to convict you of things you have already been cleared of, I PRAY you sue them for that one. Their abuse of power must be stopped and soon.
I continue to pray for you and think of you often. Stay strong in the Lord. The devil will use every trick imaginable to defeat you, but he cannot succeed when we have the greatest Judge of all on our side.

    Dear Mrs. Rosebrook:

Thank you for contacting me about the case of Poca. I appreciate hearing from you.

As you may know, this issue falls largely under state and local, rather than federal, jurisdiction. Consequently, I encourage you to contact your Washington State and local elected officials about this particular matter.

Your input is very important to me. In order for me to best serve the interests of the people of Washington State, it is absolutely necessary that I know your opinions and hear your ideas. I hope you will contact me again about the issues you care about, or if you feel I can ever be of assistance to you.

    Please keep in touch.

I hope all is well in Arlington.
