Today we got to see our precious Poca. We loved seeing her for the short time. She sobbed when it was time to go and broke down. This was worse than the day DSHS took her. The pain and hurt in her eyes was more than anyone could handle. We will not give up on the fight! We love you Poca.
Oh AMy, I can't even imagine how hard this is for you. My heart hurts with you.
ReplyDeleteHello Dick and Amy,
ReplyDeleteI went through a similar situation.
An infant girl was placed in my care when she was 2 months old. About a year later, family members (who had never met her) came forward requesting placement. CHFS started visits immediately (she cried as they took her away for a weekend visit with people she had never met). These visits continued for several months and each time she would cry and reach for me as they took her away (I understand the pain of watching a/your child reach to you for protection and there is nothing you can do!).
I tried to make it as easy for her as possible and make it seem like a happy event and I never said anything negative about her birth family.
I took it to court and after 4 of the most emotional years of my life, I was granted legal custody : )
The foster care system needs fixing.
I was in foster care when I was very young. I thought that by becoming a foster parent I could make the experience a little easier for other families and their children. I soon realized that the politics of the foster care system only makes it worse.
Amy,
ReplyDeleteDon't lose hope we have people praying for your family in Tennessee, and we believe the Lord will bring your precious Poca home where she needs. Our heart goes out to you and your husband for your willingness to help needy children. May God give you strength, courage and all the resources you need to continue your journey of hope for these children.
I have been touched by the Poca story and after following the original news story and links I have been anxiously awaiting some news about the outcome of the June 9th hearing. Please know that many people have been praying for you and are looking forward to your victory in this battle of injustice.
